 Anecdotes are one of the most impressive parts of Speech and Public speaking. It also breaks the monotony of the topic of speech. Much used as a reprieve from a serious matter, it can be a piece of refreshing comedy, short in its form and a powerful way to relax the reader/listener and gain his attention appropriately.

Care to be taken not to digress from the main topic and use it as a short personal narrative.

 Rewriting a story

Yesterday, I had an engaging class with 10 to 13 year olds on rewriting a story. Earlier, we had done a comprehension and that was truly a comfort zone.

They were not prepared for this. But with slow prompts and adding a bit of drama and dialogue writing the tough task seemed interesting.

This explores their general knowledge, improves critical thinking and helps them get confident with new phrases and sentence starters.

Re-Telling a story is different from Re-writing it.

"PLING PLING"

Narratives need the extra flair of writing skills especially when it come to Story writing. Why not add the 'punch' with a 'Pow Wow' . ' Ouch', ' Thud', 'Kaboom.

I grew up reading the Amar Chitra Katha and Phantom comics and there is a distinct use of such Onomatopoeia there.

That afternoon, in my creative writing class, we were describing the 'Beep Beep' of the security check sensor but we did not just want to use Beep Beep, so we worked on ' Pling, Pling'. ' Bleep, Bleep'.

Creativity is thus seen in usage of innovative Onomatopoeia.

Public Speaking classes for enhancing Personality, Intonation and interesting Idioms.

Today, the class was exceptionally vibrant and we completed the module on voice modulation. The students were intrigued yet shy to experience the voice modulation. Taught a few exercises and also them to build on voice control with good breathing capacity to pull on long sentences and use the conjunctions effectively. Enjoyed the afternoon. 

 

Public speaking and Personality development

Dedicated effort of this 10 year old is reaping good results. Public speaking is about confidence, improving General Knowledge, Grammar and Syntax quality and Intonation. Good luck champ, yo are doing well!
